Background is Not a Determinant Factor For Success ; Bill Gates success
One of the most influential quotes that governs Bill Gates success is
“If you are born poor, it is not your mistake, but if you die poor, it’s your mistake”.
Nowadays, millennial’s have lots of excuses to their failure and inability to pursue their dreams. But the most prominent one is “Coming from a poor background “. Let us have a deep dive into bill gates success story .
No one else Can limit your dreams but you. Success is not allocated just to some particular set of people, but it is within the reach of everyone. Being complacent has never put money in someone’s account.
If you are from a poor background, the more reason why you should work harder. You have a burden to defy the odds and disregard statistics but this requires lots of effort.
Bill Gates says “Life is not fair, get used to it”. There’s no need sitting and wishing you were born in a rich family or you were positioned well in life.
Your background doesn’t determine your success. Bill Gates success was never according to his background, but his determination and discipline. He had his dreams and pursued it. You have to crawl yourself out from that situation to the top.
And to do that, consider the following:
1. What are your Why’s?
Why do you want to be successful? Why do you aim for the top? Let your why’s be anything but not materialistic. If you are materialistic, you will never be satisfied. Set goals that are more rewarding than wealth and material possession.
2. What is the definition of success?
Poor or rich, everyone experiences success, but the difference now comes in from their definition of success. Most times, people tend to confuse ambition with success and success doesn’t have a set definition. Your current state could be someone’s desires. For instance, someone may buy a car today, to someone that is grand success but to him it could be a failure because that was not his dream, or the car he intended to buy. Hence there’s no standard definition for success lest you try to compare
with some other person.
Like Bill Gates puts it “Don’t compare yourself with anyone in this world. If you do so, you are insulting yourself”.
3. Hard work pays
The footballer Ronaldo lived in a house made out of wood on a poor island. The young man wasn’t born in a rich family, no silver spoon but today he is the best player in the world. He started with nothing, he cried most of the times, had every reason to give up but he did not. He worked hard and crawled his way out of the poor background. Instead of letting complaints and excuses become order of your day, go out there, work hard and make things happen.
In the 21st century is almost free. There are public schools which tutor for free. Also, education is not only offered in school. Moreover, you can get educated by your parents at home, you can do self-studying. Also, the vast existence of books, videos, articles, audios on the internet has made studying very accessible and easy. So, there’s no excuse.
Hence, it all drives back to your persistent effort to be successful and that determination must come from inside you. On your journey, only you’re knows presumed destination. Hence, set goals and crush them.
